What is spay and neuter?

The main difference between spay and neuter is gender. Spaying a female animal involves removing the ovaries and the uterus, and castrating a male pet removes the testicles.

What are the benefits of spay & neuter?

Neutering your pet will help not only you but also your community. You’re helping to reduce pet overpopulation and, at the same time, ensuring your pet will have the medical benefits these procedures could provide.

    • Spaying & Neutering lessens aggression

    • Many unwanted behaviors such as spraying, crying, fighting & roaming will gradually go away after surgery

    • Neutered pets become more affectionate with owners

    • Spaying females will most likely eliminate uterine infection and cancer and prevent breast cancer

    • Neutering males reduces testicular cancer & prostate problems

However, remember that weight gain after spay and neutering procedures can occur in both dogs and cats due to decreased metabolism activity and maturation. Therefore, observing your pet’s weight after surgery and adjusting the diet to prevent gaining weight is recommended. Part of our standard protocol is to educate you about food recommendations and diet plans during the discharge of your pet from our hospital.

When would be the best time to spay or neuter my pet?

We usually recommend neutering between 5-6 months of age as most cats are already sexually matured during this period.

For dogs, we suggest getting them neutered around six months of age and spayed before the first heat or after 2-3 months after the first heat cycle.

**Considerations for whether to neuter a pet as to when and at what age should be made on a case-to-case basis based upon lifestyle, breed, and demands of working. Given this is an elective or a routine procedure with both positive and negative implications, we strongly advise you to discuss everything with your vet first, for you to have an informed decision about the surgery.

What is the cost of spay & neuter?

Compared to other practices, We provide an all-inclusive package for spay & neuter services, including pre-operative blood tests, medications, a buster collar, and a follow-up check after your pet’s surgery. In addition, we offer affordable costs for spaying & neuter to ensure optimal health benefits.

How long does the surgery last?

Routine surgeries are done as a whole-day procedure, like in the case of spaying & neuter. The drop-off is usually in the morning, and pick-up time starts after 5 PM or depending upon the recovery from anesthesia. Our medical team will call you right after the surgery to inform you how it went and advise you of the pick-up time.
